This installation uses the vibrations of an elastic cord to depict the surface of water. We often stare at lakes, rivers, and especially oceans for no particular reason or goal, and this work questions if we are drawn to the same inclinations with fabricated visuals that mimic nature.
ARTISTS
Yoichi Sakamoto
Graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts Graduate Program, Department of Media Film in 2007.
Worked at Hideyuki Nakayama Architectural Firm beginning in 2007.
Working with Rhizomatiks since 2009.
In addition to his work developing for Rhizomatiks, Sakamoto has maintained an independent creative practice since 2006, building installations with simple mechanisms that express scientific phenomena such as optics and vision.
