The map is a tool that uses human footprints and viewpoints to document our stay on the earth. The paths walked by living things become roads that connect and intersect, while lights and views continue to shift. The ground is like a living being that breathes and evolves. By seizing that ground, we can create a “Map of the ground”.
Walk with the flow of people to the intersection. Follow the highway that passes overhead, and as you descend the hill, you’ll arrive at Mikawadai Park, filled with trees that provide shade during the day and wait in quiet at night.

ARTISTS
Tomoko Iwata
As an artist, she creates sensations of cosmic cycles using the observation and collection of familiar natural objects. She develops workshops that honor the potential for the simple perspective of natural objects to engage learning and expression, then presents the artworks and installations resulting from the workshops. She has been active in various locations with the art project Awashima nature observation ship in Awashima, Kagawa prefecture and the workshop Tool creators in the beech forest in Tadamimachi, Fukushima prefecture.
